Foundation repair in Dundas.
Dundas has many 1800s homes on old stone foundations. We underpin, repair and rebuild them, with any heritage approvals planned in from the start. Our own crew, quoted in writing.

The Valley Town's old foundations.
Dundas was an industrial town before Hamilton was: by 1845 it had 20 manufacturing businesses to Hamilton's nine, helped by the Desjardins Canal to the bay. Homes from that era are still here. In the Cross-Melville district, houses date from the 1820s to the 1940s, including an 1860s home on Melville Street built on a limestone foundation. The Melville-Park West area was built mostly between 1880 and 1930 as red-brick worker housing.
Dundas has barely grown in the last two decades, with 24,385 people in 2001 and 24,150 in 2021. With so little new building, the older homes downtown and on the heritage streets keep needing work, and they're where we do the most underpinning, stone wall repair and partial rebuilds. Many basements were built as cellars and are too low or too damp to finish without real foundation work.
The town sits at the foot of the Niagara Escarpment, with Spencer, Sydenham and Ancaster creeks running through the valley. Wet ground against old stone walls speeds up mortar loss and movement, so we look at drainage alongside the structure on every job.
What we see most in Dundas
- Low cellars that need underpinning to be usable
- Stone and rubble walls losing mortar or bulging
- Sagging floors and settling in century homes
- Cracked brick and block walls on older streets
- Heritage homes needing approval before outside work
- Sloped valley lots that suit a walkout
